AU5 is a commonly used epitope tag engineered onto the N- or C- terminus of a protein of interest so that the tagged protein can be analyzed and visualized by immunochemical methods. Because of the small size of the epitope, it is unlikely to alter the activity of the cloned sequence.

Western blot analysis of AU5 tag on AU5 tagged fusion protein with Rabbit anti-AU5 tag antibody (R1402-4) at 1/1,000 dilution.
Lane 1: AU5 tagged fusion protein, 1,000ng/Lane
Lane 2: AU5 tagged fusion protein, 200ng/Lane
Lane 3: AU5 tagged fusion protein, 50ng/Lane
Exposure time: 51 seconds;
4-20% SDS-PAGE gel.
Proteins were transferred to a PVDF membrane and blocked with 5% NFDM/TBST for 1 hour at room temperature. The primary antibody (R1402-4) at 1/1,000 dilution was used in 5% NFDM/TBST at 4℃ overnight. Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG - HRP Secondary Antibody (HA1001) at 1/50,000 dilution was used for 1 hour at room temperature.
